Economical Glass Extension

ecotects designed this ‘glass box’ rear extension to a detached property in Sussex in 2010.

The brief for the project was to create a modern, bright and airy dining room that has a strong visual connection with the garden beyond, both day and night, and creates a contemporary space for entertaining, dining and living.

The main seating and dining areas have been opened up, and the introduction of a large rooflight brings light deep in to the plan during the day.

The ‘glass box’ extension, with its full height sliding/folding glass doors, allows the space to become semi-external for dining and entertaining during the summer and extra width to the refurbished dining room space.
